Whisk together the milk, dark chocolate, and sugar
Heat over low heat, whisking occasionally, for 20 minutes
Remove from heat
In a separate pan, melt the butter
Add the flour and whisk well
Ladle in the milk and chocolate mixture, whisking constantly, until thickened
Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes
A little at a time, add the egg yolks, whisking well
Add the brandy, salt, and vanilla extract, whisking well
Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C)
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then fold into the mixture above
Pour into an ungreased 2-liter baking dish
Bake for about 30 minutes, or until puffed and set
Serve immediately, dividing among 4-6 portions.
