Heat the milk and combine it with the salt, sugar, and margarine in a large bowl
Let it cool slightly
Mix well and let it sit for a bit
Add the beaten egg and mix
Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water and add it to the milk mixture
Add the flour, mixing until a firm dough forms
Place the dough in a protected area and let it rise until it has doubled in volume
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1 cm thick
Cut out rings using a ring cutter or a glass
You can also shape into puffs or other shapes
Cover and let it rest for 1 hour
Fry some doughnuts at once in hot fat until they are golden brown, flipping them only once
Serve warm, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon if desired.
