8 medium onions, cut into fine slices

Melt the butter with onions in a pan
Cook on low heat until the onion is well browned
Stir occasionally
Reserve the onions and oil separately
In another pan, cook the lentils with water and bring to a boil
Let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the lentils are almost cooked
Add the rice and reserved oil
Season with salt
Cook until the rice is tender
If necessary, add more hot water
Serve in a dish and top with reserved onions and sliced linguiça
