Beat the oil or margarine with vanilla extract until creamy
Add the flour to the mixture, beating continuously
Add the egg yolks and beat well
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and oatmeal
Add to the egg yolk mixture and mix well
Divide the dough into 48 portions, shape into balls
Place the balls in an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them evenly apart
Place one gumdrop in the center of each ball, forming a depression
Bake at moderate temperature (170°F) for 12 to 15 minutes
Let cool for 4 days.
