3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 1/2 tablespoons ground ginger
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup golden syrup
1 egg
3/4 cup yellow corn syrup
2 tablespoons grated orange zest
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup golden syrup
1 egg
3/4 cup yellow corn syrup
2 tablespoons grated orange zest
Sift together flour, baking soda, and ginger, and then add cinnamon and cloves
Beat the butter until creamy
Add the golden syrup to the butter, a little at a time, beating until the mixture is light and fluffy
Add the egg, corn syrup, and orange zest, and beat well
Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together in a smooth ball
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/3 inch thickness
Cut into various shapes with biscuit cutters
Place half of each biscuit with a pecan or almond half and bake in a greased baking dish for 8-10 minutes
Bake approximately 8 days.
