Preheat the oven to moderate temperature (180°C)
Cream together the butter or margarine and sugar until smooth
Beat in the eggs, vanilla extract, and mix well
Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda over a bowl and mix well
Add the chocolate chips and nuts, and mix carefully
Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet, leaving a small space between each cookie
Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned
Remove from oven and let cool
Yield: 160 cookies
Optional: Use 3/4 cup of common sugar and 3/4 cup of brown sugar.
