In a large bowl, cream the butter with the sugar until it becomes light and fluffy
Add the eggs, flour, baking powder, and wine
Beat well to obtain a smooth and even batter
Add the currants and mix delicately
Pour into an English cake mold, 29 x 13 cm, and bake in moderate heat (150°C), preheated, for one hour or until inserting a toothpick into the center yields a clean result
Let it cool for 10 minutes before turning out
