For the dough
4 eggs
1 cup of sugar (180g)
1/3 cup of melted butter (65g)
1 cup of wheat flour (120g)
1/2 cup of chocolate chips (45g)
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1 cup of crystallized fruits, chopped (125g)
For the filling and topping
200g of dark chocolate, chopped
100g of softened butter
Crystallized fruits or cherries in syrup (for decorating)
For the dough

Butter a 19cm diameter cake pan with butter. Reserve
Prepare the dough: In a stand mixer, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy
Add the melted butter, wheat flour, chocolate chips, and baking powder gradually
Beat until smooth
Pour half of the dough into the prepared cake pan
Spread the crystallized fruits on top
Cover with the remaining dough
Bake in a preheated oven at high heat for 7 minutes
Leave the cake to rest for 1 minute inside the oven, then remove and let it cool
Run a knife around the edges of the cake to release it from the pan
Let it cool completely
Prepare the filling and topping: Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave
Stir in the softened butter until smooth. Reserve
Assemble the cake: Cut the cooled cake into three layers
Place one layer on a serving plate, spread with some of the filling
Repeat twice more
Top the cake with the remaining filling and decorate with crystallized fruits or cherries in syrup
