A 750g piece of tender beef cut or chuck, cut into strips
1 tablespoon of fat
1 teaspoon of salt
One large onion, chopped
One cup of hot water
One cup of sour cream
2 tablespoons of wheat flour
To taste: salt and pepper
Optional: 1 tablespoon of ketchup

Heat the fat in a pan
When it's hot, add the beef and brown it on both sides
Reduce heat, season the beef with salt, and cover it with chopped onion
Pour in the hot water
Cook slowly covered pan for about 1 hour or until the beef is tender
Check the liquid level; there should be approximately 1 cup left
Remove the beef from the pan and place it on a warm serving dish
Mix the sour cream with wheat flour, then add it to the remaining liquid in the pan
Mix well
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding ketchup if desired
Serve hot with mashed potatoes or baked potatoes
