Make several holes in the meat and fill with dried black figs without seeds
Reserve the seeds with the fibers that remain attached
Melt the butter or margarine in a large skillet
Let the meat brown on all sides
Mix the chopped onion, salt, tomato extract, and wine
Add to the meat
Join the reserved fig seeds and 3-4 whole figs
Cover and cook over low heat until the meat is tender, adding more liquid if necessary (you can also add equal parts of wine and water)
