Beat the butter in a processor until creamy
Combine the two types of sugar and mix
Add the eggs and vanilla
Beat for another minute or so
Sift the flour and baking powder into a large bowl and mix
Add the butter mixture and stir with a wooden spoon
Don't overwork the dough
Add the chocolate chips and nuts, and fold in gently
Preheat the oven to medium temperature
Place rounded tablespoonfuls (about 1/2 cup each) onto an ungreased baking sheet, leaving space between them
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Let cool completely and store in well-sealed containers.
