Chop the rapaduras
Place the chunks in a large pot and bring to a boil with 1 cup of water
Cook over low heat for 20 minutes until the molasses thickens and reaches the soft-ball stage
With a skimmer, remove the foam that forms

Cut the pumpkin into 5 cm squares, leaving the skin intact
Add the pieces to the pot with the molasses
Cook for 15 minutes over medium heat
Gently remove the pumpkin from the pot and let the syrup thicken for another 20 minutes
Return the pumpkin to the syrup,
Remove from the heat and serve.
