2 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin
3 cups of milk
2/3 cup of sugar
5 egg yolks beaten
2/3 cup of clear grapes without seeds
4 tablespoons of candied fruit or cherries chopped
1 cup of pecans chopped
1/4 cup of rum or brandy
5 egg whites beaten until stiff
2 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin
3 cups of milk
2/3 cup of sugar
5 egg yolks beaten

1/4 cup of rum or brandy
5 egg whites beaten until stiff
Let the gelatin soften in 1 cup of cold milk
Heat the remaining 2 cups of milk to just below boiling point
Reduce heat and add sugar, egg yolks, and candied fruit or cherries
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened
Add the milk with gelatin and stir until dissolved
Add grapes, pecans, rum or brandy, and mix well
Chill in refrigerator until slightly firm, then fold in egg whites beaten stiff
Mix carefully
Pour into a decorative mold greased with butter
Chill in refrigerator until firm, then unmold and serve with whipped cream if desired
