Mix together the mashed banana, rum, vodka, 3 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice, and vanilla in a glass or ceramic container with a capacity for 2 liters
Close it well and let it macerate in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks, stirring every 3 days
Cool it by pouring it through a double-layered cheesecloth (morim) that's clean and damp into a clean container
To get the liqueur to be perfectly transparent, it may need to be filtered several times
However, if it's a bit cloudy, it won't affect the flavor
Check the taste and add more simple syrup or lime juice if desired
Close it well and let it age for 4 to 6 weeks in a cool, dark place
Pour the liqueur through a funnel into a decanter and close it well
Serve 4 1/2 cups.
