In a medium skillet, combine the butter and brown sugar and cook over high heat, stirring constantly, until the butter melts (about 1 minute)
Add the rum and mashed potatoes, reduce the heat and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly (about 9 minutes)
Remove from heat, sprinkle with cinnamon and let cool for about 6 minutes
Serve immediately
