4 1/2 cups of milk

Mix the milk and 1 3/4 cups of sugar, with the vanilla extract, and bring to a simmer over low heat
While that's happening, whip the egg whites until stiff and add the remaining sugar gradually
Whip until it forms stiff peaks
Using two spoons, shape the meringue into an egg shape and place it on top of the hot milk, giving it the desired form
Let it simmer until firm, stirring once
Remove from the heat with a skimmer, carefully, and place on a cloth
Reserve the milk.
