12 clean and open sardines
to taste salt
1 cup water
1/3 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
1 teaspoon ground coriander (optional)
1 medium onion, cut into slices
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon lemon juice
12 clean and open sardines

Place the seasoned sardines with salt on a flat plate
Mix all ingredients except for the heavy cream and lemon juice in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over low heat
Simmer for 5 minutes
Remove from heat and pour over the sardines
Cover and refrigerate overnight
Drain the sardines and cover with the heavy cream mixture mixed with lemon juice
Serve 8 people.
