Wash the jaboticabas thoroughly
Place them in a pot, cover and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes
Uncover the pot and, without removing it from the heat, mash the fruit well with a wooden spoon
Remove from the heat and press through a fine-mesh sieve using the back of a wooden spoon
