1 cup of uncooked rice
4 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 large onion, chopped or grated
chicken or beef broth (about 2 cups)

Wash the rice thoroughly
In a saucepan, melt the butter or margarine, add the chopped onion and sauté until lightly browned
Add the rice to the saucepan
Fry over low heat for 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure even browning
Bring the broth to almost boiling point and pour it over the rice
The broth should reach more than 3 cm above the rice
Cover the saucepan and cook on low heat for 25-30 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed
Serve with butter to taste
