Wash the rice in cold water, repeating the process several times
Place a tablespoon of butter or margarine in a pot, add the rice and let it fry for a few minutes
Add sufficient water to reach more than 3 cm above the rice

Variations
Rice with chicken broth: use chicken broth instead of water and serve the rice accompanied by chicken or turkey
With almonds or cashews: cook the rice in broth and mix with toasted almonds or cashews in butter
Add melted butter to taste
With mushrooms: mix cooked mushrooms with the cooked rice.
