1 teaspoon of baking soda
2 cups of instant oats

Combine the oats, butter or margarine, and baking soda in a pan over medium heat
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes
Add the oat mixture and stir well
Transfer the mixture to a 20 cm square baking dish greased with margarine and bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for 10 minutes
Cut into bars while still warm.
