Layer a slice of potato in a baking dish
Cover with a layer of onion
Sprinkle with salt, flour, and pepper
Top with small pieces of butter
Repeat the layers
Pour the milk over the top
Bake in a moderate oven (150°C) for 45 minutes, covered with aluminum foil
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes
Serve hot.
