Mix together the flour and baking soda
Beat the butter or margarine in a bowl until creamy
Add the granulated sugar and beat well
Add the egg, orange juice, and grated orange zest, beating until well combined
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth
Add the chopped almonds or hazelnuts and mix well
Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour
Place the dough on a floured surface and shape into a roll about 3 cm in diameter
Wrap firmly in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight
Heat the oven to moderate temperature (170°C)
Unwrap the roll of dough and cut into slices about 0.5 cm thick
Arrange the slices in a baking dish without greasing and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown
Remove from the baking dish while still warm, so they don't stick
