Cream the butter
Add the sugar and continue beating well
Add the eggs, egg, and cardamom
Beat well
Add the heavy cream or evaporated milk, beat again
Sift together the flour, cornstarch, and baking soda
Add to the previous mixture and mix well
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 cm thick
Cut the dough into pieces of 2 1/2 x 5 cm
On each piece, make a cut about 1 finger-width from both ends, then pull the two ends and curve them open
Bake in a moderate oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown
Let cool for about 3 days.
