4 tablespoons of butter or margarine
4 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of water
1 1/2 cups of pecan halves
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
6 tablespoons of hot water
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 egg whites beaten until stiff

Preheat the oven to moderate heat (180°C)
Grease a small baking dish, 18 x 23.5 cm
Melt the butter or margarine over low heat in the prepared baking dish
Add the brown sugar and water
Stir until the sugar dissolves
Remove from heat and spread evenly with pecan halves. Reserve
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until thickened
Gradually add the milk and sugar, beating well
Add the hot water and vanilla
Mix well
Combine the flour and baking powder
Fold in the beaten egg whites
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Let cool in the baking dish for 5 minutes, then remove and let cool completely
Cut into 18 pieces.
