'1 box of vanilla cake mix'
3/4 cup of milk
1/2 cup of caramel syrup
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
1 pinch of ground cloves
Covering:
3/4 cup of powdered sugar, well-packed in the container
1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
1/2 cup of melted butter or margarine
1/4 cup of milk
1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or hazelnuts

To make the cake: grease a 25 x 25 cm baking dish
Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions, using milk and caramel syrup instead of the recommended liquid
Add the cinnamon and cloves
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake in a preheated oven (220°C) for about 20-30 minutes
Or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
To make the topping: in a bowl, mix together powdered sugar, flour, and cinnamon
Add the melted butter, milk, and walnuts or hazelnuts, mixing well
Spread this mixture over the cake
Bake again for about 10 minutes, until the topping is set
Let it cool, then cut into squares
Wrap each square in aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator
Noteworthy: can be made up to 15 days in advance
It yields 35 squares.
