Mix the beef lightly with 3/4 cup of the cheese, the egg, the breadcrumbs, the onion, and the seasonings
Shape into a long roll and place in a lightly greased baking dish
Bake in a moderate oven for 1 hour
Drain the liquid
Spread the tomato sauce over the top
Sprinkle with the remaining cheese
Bake for an additional 20 minutes
