Prepare the cake according to the package instructions and bake in a rectangular baking dish

While it's baking, prepare the glaze: mix together the pudding powder, milk, and butter in a saucepan and let it boil, stirring constantly

Let it boil for about 15 minutes and add vanilla extract, confectioners' sugar, and hot water

Mix well and spread over the cake when still warm
