2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
120g bittersweet chocolate
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup unsalted butter or margarine (160g)
3 eggs
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
120g bittersweet chocolate
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup unsalted butter or margarine (160g)
3 eggs
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt
Melt the chocolate and milk in a double boiler and let the chocolate melt
Add 3/4 cup granulated sugar and beat well
Let it cool
Add vanilla extract
Beat the butter or margarine with 1 cup granulated sugar
Add eggs one at a time, beating very well after each addition
Alternate adding the sifted ingredients and the chocolate mixture, beating well after each addition
Pour into a greased baking dish and bake in a moderate oven for 30-35 minutes
Allow cake to cool and cut into squares
When serving, open a can of fruit salad and spoon some on top of each piece of cake.
