In a mixer, cream the sugar with the butter until well combined
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Sift the flour together with the baking powder and add to the mixer alternately with milk
When the batter is smooth, pour it into a round, refrigerated tin, 20 cm in diameter and 7 cm high, greased and floured
Bake in a preheated oven (180°C) for about 1 hour or until, when testing with a toothpick, it comes out clean and the cake is golden brown
Let cool for 12 minutes.
