2 3/4 cups of wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of whole cloves
1 teaspoon of ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/2 cup of butter or margarine
2/3 cup of sugar
1 egg
2/3 cup of honey
1 1/4 cups of boiling water

2/3 cup of sugar

2/3 cup of honey
1 1/4 cups of boiling water
Preheat the oven
Combine the flour with baking soda and spices
Beat the butter or margarine until creamy
Add the sugar gradually, beating well
Add the egg and beat again
Add the honey and boiling water, adding the flour mixture gradually, beating always
Pour into a lightly greased small cake pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake is done
Let it cool in the pan
To serve, cut into large squares
If desired, serve with whipped cream
