1 cup of blackberries
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup ground almonds
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 orange
2 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine
1 egg, beaten
1 cup chopped walnuts, hazelnuts, or pecans

1 cup of blackberries

Wash the blackberries and pat them dry
In a bowl, combine the flour, ground almonds, yeast, baking soda, and salt
Grate the orange peel to obtain 2 tablespoons
Squeeze the orange juice and mix with the butter or margarine, enough hot water to obtain 3/4 cup
Add to the flour mixture
Add the beaten egg and grated orange peel
Mix just until the ingredients are moistened
In a small bowl, combine the blackberries, walnuts, and 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Add to the batter and mix carefully
Pour into a round 20 cm diameter greased tin
Bake in a moderate oven (180°C) for approximately 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Let cool in the tin for 10 minutes
Turn out onto a wire rack and let cool completely
Wrap in aluminum foil and let rest for one day before serving
