Preheat the oven to medium (350°F)
Grease a pound cake pan measuring 23 cm x 29 cm
In a large bowl, cream the butter with sugar until smooth
Add eggs, flour, yeast, and Port wine, beating well to form a light and homogeneous batter
Add currants and mix carefully
Place in prepared pan and bake for 1 hour, or until, when inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake, it comes out clean
Let cool for about 10 minutes
Unmold and serve at room temperature.
