3 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon of whole milk
1/2 cup of butter, softened
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons of active dry yeast
1/3 cup of whole milk, lukewarm
Grated rind of 1 lemon
1 egg, beaten
Sprinkles and granulated sugar, optional

Mix the flour with the yeast on a flat surface
Cream a hollow in the center and add all remaining ingredients
Mix well and knead quickly until the dough comes away from the surface
Form a log of 5 cm thickness and join the ends to form a ring
Place in a greased baking dish
Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar and colored sprinkles, if desired
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown
Remove from the baking dish and let cool
Serve
Dust with confectioner's sugar, if desired
