Three-quarters cup of all-purpose flour
One teaspoon of active dry yeast
One pinch of salt
One-quarter cup of unsalted butter or margarine (or 4 tablespoons)
One cup of well-sifted dark cocoa powder, in the cup
One egg
One teaspoon of vanilla extract
Half cup of chopped nuts, almonds, or pecans

Mix the flour, yeast, and salt thoroughly. Reserve
In a saucepan, melt the butter or margarine and remove from heat
Add the cocoa powder and mix well
Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat well with a wooden spoon
Add the flour and nuts to the mixture and mix well
Spread into an ungreased 18 x 25.5 cm baking dish
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Let cool on the baking sheet, then cut into squares and serve.
