In a small saucepan, mix the sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and warm water
Bring to a boil and cook until it reaches a firm ball consistency
Add the chestnuts and vanilla and stir well
Spread in a baking dish and separate the chestnuts
Serve 2 1/2 cups or 10 portions.
