1/2 cup of uncooked rice

Bring the water to a boil with the chicken pieces, carrots, parsley, tomato, onion, and garlic
Season with salt to taste
Simmer until the chicken is tender
Skim off any foam that forms
Remove the chicken from the pot and shred it, then return it to the stew
Add the rice
Bring to a boil and simmer until the rice is cooked
Check the seasoning.
