6 slices of bacon

Soak the lentils in cold water for 1 hour
Cut the hares into pieces
Season with garlic and salt
Dust with wheat flour and fry in hot butter, margarine, or olive oil until golden brown on all sides
Drain the lentils, cover with fresh water, and add 1 tablespoon of salt
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the lentils are tender but not mushy
Drain and combine with chopped onions and room temperature butter or margarine
Season to taste with salt and black pepper
Squeeze a clove of garlic onto one or two molds
Line the bottom of each mold with bacon strips
Place a layer of lentils at the bottom
Arrange the hare pieces on top and cover with more lentils
Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a moderate oven (180°C) for about 1 1/2 hours, or until the hare is tender
