In a large pot, bring 3 liters of water to a boil and season with 1 tablespoon salt
Cover and reduce heat to medium
Add the Swiss chard and cook until al dente (about 5 minutes)
Drain and reserve
In a medium pot, combine olive oil and garlic and sauté over medium heat, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until the garlic is lightly browned (approximately 2 minutes)
Add the reserved Swiss chard, salt, and black pepper
Stir well
Remove from heat, add thyme, and stir again
Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately
