Butter a large piece of parchment paper and set aside

In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and corn syrup and place over medium heat
Stir occasionally for 10 minutes or until the mixture reaches a dark caramel color

Add the pecans and stir well
Remove from heat, add the baking soda, and stir quickly

Pour onto the prepared parchment paper and spread
When cooled, remove the parchment paper and place the praline on a wooden cutting board
Use a rolling pin to break into irregular pieces.
