2 to 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine
2 to 3 slices of toasted bread

Melt the butter or margarine in a pan over low heat
If desired, remove the crust from the bread slices
Cut the bread slices into 1 cm cubes
Place the bread cubes in the pan and stir until they are well toasted and coated with the melted butter
Serve with soup
(About 1 1/2 cups.)
Variation: Add 1 minced garlic clove to the butter or margarine, then after it's ready, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the croutons and mix very well.
