700g cod fillets (about 6 fillets )
Lemon juice from 1 medium lemon

1 dash of black pepper

For the sauce
1/4 cup white vinegar (60 ml)
1/2 cup ketchup (120 ml)
1/3 cup water (80 ml)
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 dash of salt
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Make the batter: in a bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well with a wooden spoon. Reserve
Prepare the fish: cut the fillets into 2.5 cm cubes
Season with lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Reserve
Heat enough vegetable oil in a medium skillet to fry the fish bites
Coat each fish cube with the reserved batter and fry, batches at a time, until golden brown
Drain on paper towels
Make the sauce: in a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly
Serve the fried fish bites with the warm sauce
