1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 small can of mushrooms, sliced
1 beef broth tablet
1 spoonful ketchup
4 top rounds or beef mignon steaks
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 small can of mushrooms, sliced
1 beef broth tablet
1 spoonful ketchup
4 top rounds or beef mignon steaks
Bring the onion, garlic, and water to a boil; cook for 10 minutes or until the liquid evaporates
Reduce heat and continue cooking, stirring constantly, for 3-4 minutes or until the onion is slightly caramelized
Add the flour and remove from heat
Drain the mushroom liquid and place in a bowl, adding more water if necessary to make 1 cup of liquid
Set aside the mushrooms
Add the liquid, beef broth tablet, and ketchup to the onion mixture; cook stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, then simmer for 1 minute
Add the mushrooms and let simmer slowly for another 5 minutes
Brush a little of the sauce on both sides of the steaks and pan-fry them in a non-stick skillet at the desired doneness
Cover with the sauce and serve with 1 or 2 tablespoons of rice tossed with a little paprika to taste
The rice should be prepared without oil
Broccoli should be cooked in water with salt and served with lemon slices
To add a special touch, place 2 olives, 1 carrot stick, and 2 green onions on the plate
As a side dish, serve a peeled tomato (now available canned), if desired
