In a large skillet, over high heat, melt the butter with olive oil (approximately 3 minutes)
Add the filet portions and cook until browned (approximately 2 minutes per side)
Reserve on a platter
Add the onion and asparagus to the skillet, stir, cover, and cook until the asparagus starts to soften (about 5 minutes)
Add the filet portions back to the skillet, season with salt and cook uncovered until the asparagus is tender (approximately 2 minutes)
Transfer to the platter and serve immediately
