Beat the butter, add half the confectioner's sugar and beat until foamy
Add the salt and vanilla extract
Alternate adding the remaining confectioner's sugar and milk, using just enough liquid to achieve a good consistency for piping
Beat until the mixture holds its shape when lifted slightly
Divide the mixture into three parts and tint each part with a different color
Apply with a pastry bag
