2 medium onions
2 tablespoons of bacon drippings
1.25 kg beef cubed into 2 cm pieces
250 g beef coraço de boi, cut into 2 cm pieces (optional)
1 clove of garlic
1/8 teaspoon ground caraway (Kümmel)
to taste salt
2 tablespoons sweet paprika
1 medium ripe tomato
2 green peppers
0.5 kg potatoes
2 medium onions
2 tablespoons of bacon drippings
1.25 kg beef cubed into 2 cm pieces
250 g beef coraço de boi, cut into 2 cm pieces (optional)
1 clove of garlic
1/8 teaspoon ground caraway (Kümmel)
to taste salt
2 tablespoons sweet paprika
1 medium ripe tomato
2 green peppers
0.5 kg potatoes
Peel and chop the onions into large pieces
Melt the bacon drippings in a large pot, then fry the onion without browning it
Add the beef and coraço (optional) and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes
Mix together the minced garlic, ground caraway, and salt
Remove the pot from the heat and add the sweet paprika and garlic mixture
Stir well with a wooden spoon
Add 2 liters of hot water (cold water will toughen the cooking beef)
Bring the pot back to low heat, covered, and simmer for 1 hour
Cut the tomato into pieces
Remove the seeds from the pepper and cut it into slices
Peel and chop the potatoes into 2 cm cubes
When the beef is tender, add the tomato, pepper, and sufficient water to achieve a soup-like consistency
Season with salt as needed, then simmer for another 30 minutes
Add the potatoes and cook until they're tender
If desired, add a diced red pepper for added heat
