1/2 pound ground beef or 4 frozen beef burgers
salt and pepper to taste
1 minced garlic clove
1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
1/2 cup finely chopped green peppers
1 medium-sized onion, diced
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
3 tablespoons vinegar
1/4 cup pickled vegetables, finely chopped and drained
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
4 beef burgers cut in half, buttered, and toasted

4 beef burgers cut in half, buttered, and toasted
If preparing the beef burgers, mix the ground beef lightly with salt and pepper and shape into 4 equal burgers
Fry the garlic, carrots, peppers, and onion in vegetable oil for 2-3 minutes
Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water in a bowl
Combine the remaining water with vinegar and sugar in a saucepan
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer
Add pickled vegetables, cornstarch mixture, and pepper mixture
Stir constantly
Cook until thickened, about 1 minute more or less
Heat butter in a pan and fry the beef burgers to desired doneness
Place each burger on a toasted bun with some sauce on top, then serve the remaining sauce separately.
