Scrape the orange peel until it's smooth
Cut into four pieces and place in a bowl
Soak in water for 4 days, changing the water three times a day
On the first or second day, remove the pulp from the fruit (when it's soft) and scrape off with a spoon the part of the peel that was in contact with the pulp until it's smooth
Continue soaking until the orange peel loses its bitter taste
Drain, roll up each piece of peel, and place in a pot
Soak in water and bring to a boil
Let simmer for 5 minutes
Drain the water, combine the syrup ingredients, and cook until the oranges are tender and the syrup thickens slightly
Serve 15 pieces.
