2 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup of cold water
2 cups of sugar
2 tablespoons of Karo syrup
1 cup of hot water
2 egg whites beaten until stiff
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Hazelnuts or Pecans chopped or toasted coconut

In a large bowl, dissolve the gelatin in cold water. Reserve
In a saucepan, mix together sugar, Karo syrup, and hot water and bring to a medium heat until it reaches a soft-ball stage
Pour this mixture over the gelatin, stirring constantly, and beat until it starts to thicken
Add in the egg whites and vanilla extract and stir carefully
Pour into a baking dish and let it cool
When it's firm, cut into small squares with a knife dampened in hot water
Next, coat the squares in chopped hazelnuts or Pecans (or toasted coconut)
Variation
Add coloring to foods, maraschino cherries drained and small pieces of papaya
Cover with grated coconut or confectioner's sugar.
