Two-thirds cup of vinegar
2 tablespoons of chopped green onions
1 teaspoon of crushed black pepper
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups of melted butter or margarine

Mix the vinegar, green onion, and black pepper
Let it simmer
Cook rapidly until the mixture thickens to a syrup-like consistency
Remove from heat; let it cool slightly
Add the eggs
Place in a warm water bath and whisk until it thickens
Remove from heat
Add the melted butter or margarine, removing any foam on top
(The butter should be at the same temperature as the sauce.)
Add the butter slowly, stirring constantly, and whisk without stopping
Check the seasoning and strain through a fine-mesh sieve
Serve 1 1/2 cups.
